i just have to
so these black guys from duke added themselves into a bay area princeton facebook group and this is what i see happening:
the black guys start spamming the shit out of the group after one kid saw that the guys have duke listed as their colleges with just horrible grammar/spelling and cuss words and all around trolling. i was getting so frustrated because i hate seeing the red facebook...

In response to an earlier entry of mine, this post appeared on College Confidential:
You know, I get sick of college admissions officers saying how they couldn’t accept so many wonderful people. While it’s supposed to be comforting, obviously, I just find it really insincere. I mean, either you’re accepted or you’re not. There is no grey area… so they shouldn’t try...

i watched beauty and the beast today, so i am in the mood to post 5 disney-related facts about me!
i didn’t think beauty and the beast was that good :( the only song i liked from it was “beauty and the beast.” though i have to admit i like belle so much better than say sleeping beauty or snow white who didn’t do jack shit and just waited for their princes to rescue them

my computer is super slow at buffering today so as i’m waiting for my big bang theory to load i guess i’ll just write something hopefully deep and meaningful on tumblr because it’s been two days.
i couldn’t think of anything to write so this can just be a letter to any juniors who follow me. i know that you guys are hating school right now and hoping that either the math...

deep breaths, deep breaths. inhale, exhale, repeat and again. be the bigger person, let it go. forgive and forget. watch some stupid movie with mila kunis and some blue-eyed heartthrob, curl up to some chicken soup and a bag of flavor-blasted goldfish. jump into those argyle print knee-highs, roll into a snuggie, take a bubble bath. pick up a spiritual work here and there. write it all...

irrationality
what’s considered irrational? i’m assuming that everyone’s definition of irrationality is different, but it always boggles my mind when, for example, my mom yells at me for not knowing how to fill out her taxes when clearly i have not taken any accounting class in my life and had not even read the letter she received in the mail. i feel like i have changed a lot since summer...

tuesdays with morrie
“I heard a nice little story the other day,” Morrie says. He closes his eyes for a moment and I wait.
“Okay. The story is about a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He’s enjoying the wind and the fresh air - until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore.
“‘My God, this is terrible,’ the wave...

happy birthday 邱大同 my one-month older cousin! we grew up together essentially under the same roof and i still remember seeing a photo of us two in the bathtub together laughing. i also remember how we’d eat our hard-boiled eggs after kindergarten every day and i’d always be amazed at how you can tolerate eating those egg yolks. and with all the pressure you face in shanghai right now,...

“We’re all faced throughout our lives with agonizing decisions, moral choices. Some are on a grand scale, most of these choices are on lesser points. But we define ourselves by the choices we have made. We are, in fact, the sum total of our choices. Events unfold so unpredictably, so unfairly, Human happiness does not seem to be included in the design of creation. it is only we, with...

2011 reflection challenge: day 8, 9
the funnest getaway: honestly i consider any time spent with friends a getaway, but i think the most relaxing getaway for me is when i’m just walking in a park, hiking, looking out from beauchamps/hunter’s point, something nature-esque. i realized that it takes my mind off of busy and noisy school life.
the end of last school year/the beginning of this one: the end of last school year...
2011 reflection challenge: day 5, 6, 7
the most memorable moment: there were definitely a lot of memorable moments that happened this year, and i honestly don’t think that i can just pick one and call it the most memorable. from something that happened in seconds (like laughing at those korean celebrity look-a-like pictures) to longer events (like having the annual hangout at great america with my loves), 2011 definitely had its...
good deeds
i had a college interview yesterday, and there were many things that stuck with me about what he said he had learned in college. one was the idea of good deeds, and he told me something like this:
whenever people think of good deeds, they think of helping someone. but an author argued that those good deeds aren’t good deeds at all, because the person performing it ultimately seeks attention...
2011 reflection challenge: day 2, 3, 4
relationships: taken!
best day: 12/15 (winter formal + start of winter break + college result)
worst day: i definitely cried in school a few times in 2011, but i think my worst memory happened on the airplane as i was coming back from shanghai over summer. my mom went to the restroom and my dad was seated in front of us, and my sister’s ears decided to pop at that moment. she immediately...

a few things you will never forget in 2011

intellectualquotes:
“I discovered at an early age that I was— shall we be kind and say different? It’s a better, more general word than the other one. I indulged in certain practices that our society regards as shameful. And I got sick. It wasn’t the practices, I don’t think, it was the feeling that the great, deadly, pointing forefinger of society was pointing at me— and the great voice of...
